Apprentice Activity Instructor
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Belchamps Scout Activity Centre to be part of our apprenticeship scheme. As an apprentice you will complete an NVQ level 2 award in outdoor activity leadership and gain NGB awards in activities such as archery, fencing and first aid. Working within our busy centre you will be gaining valuable experience and your first steps in a career in the outdoors. Belchamps Scout Activity Centre is one of the leading outdoor activity centres in Essex and is part of The Scout Association.
You will support the Activities Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the daily operation of the Centre to provide our guests with a safe, fun, educational and high quality experience in line with Scout Activity Centre products. You will learn how to instruct most of the activities on site, and you will gain NGB awards and internal sign offs throughout your apprenticeship. You will assist with other duties including some cleaning and activity maintenance.

Belchamps Scout Activity Centre has an exciting new opportunity for a maintenance assistant. You’ll need good all-round DIY skills to be able to deal with the wide range of maintenance issues that arise in our dormitory buildings, toilet blocks, sports hall and office building. You’ll know a bit of plumbing, very basic electrics, be a bit of a carpenter and a good decorator. You’ll also know when something is out of your capabilities and be able to call one of our preferred contractors in for help. You will also complete weekly health and safety and safety checks on Legionella, fire alarms and emergency lighting and be part of the Health and safety committee.
You will have:
Excellent customer services and an awareness of why things need to be in working order (E)
Basic DIY skills (E)
Able to talk to contractors (E)
Hold a full driving licence (D)
Be able to work alone and manage your own time and tasks (E)
Be willing to work the occasional weekend when we have big events (E)
Have an understanding of health and safety.
