Apprentice Activity Instructor

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Belchamps Scout Activity Centre to be part of our apprenticeship scheme. As an apprentice you will complete an NVQ level 2 award in outdoor activity leadership and gain NGB awards in activities such as archery, fencing and first aid. Working within our busy centre you will be gaining valuable experience and your first steps in a career in the outdoors. Belchamps Scout Activity Centre is one of the leading outdoor activity centres in Essex and is part of The Scout Association.

You will support the Activities Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the daily operation of the Centre to provide our guests with a safe, fun, educational and high quality experience in line with Scout Activity Centre products. You will learn how to instruct most of the activities on site, and you will gain NGB awards and internal sign offs throughout your apprenticeship. You will assist with other duties including some cleaning and activity maintenance.

About you
You will have a passion for outdoor activities, and be looking to pursue a career in the outdoors. Experience working with scout or guide groups would be advantageous but not necessary.

Guest Services Assistant

Salary: Meets national minimum wage/living wage (over 25)

Benefits: Staff uniform, complimentary lunch, free parking

Start Date October/November 2017

Contract type: Part time

Hours: 15 hours per week to include weekends and some evenings, overtime payable where necessary

 

To work various shifts in reception, responding to emails, answering the telephone, dealing with customers face to face and serving in the shop. You will have excellent customer skills, be well organised, have a good telephone manner, good IT skills, be flexible and able to work alone unsupervised. You will have some knowledge of Belchamps and Scouting or Guiding, experience of working in an outdoor centre would be desirable.
